$20 million project approved in Libertyville would include 34 'attainable' rental apartments

Nearly a year after being introduced, a $20 million plan to provide "attainable" housing for seniors and empty-nesters and improve the Peterson Road corridor in Libertyville has been approved by village officials. The village board on Tuesday unanimously voted for the final plan by Community Partners for Affordable Housing for Eve. B. Lee Place to replace a long-vacant building at 500 Peterson Road.

Mixed-use property coming to Woodlawn to help maintain affordable living

A first-of-its-kind luxury, mixed-use residential and commercial property is coming to Chicago’s Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side. This comes as local leaders have fought hard to keep existing residents in the neighborhood as housing costs in and around the neighborhood go up.

The up-and-coming Park Station Lofts at 63rd and Maryland is one of a handful of developments expected to do that.

West Loop school unveils new ADA-compliant playground
A ribbon cutting ceremony took place Friday, September 16, 2022 for a new ADA compliant playground at Wilma Rudolph Learning Center in the West Loop. The school serves about 100 preschool through eighth grade students who have profound cognitive and physical disabilities. District leaders say the inclusive playground was a $745,000 investment. The playground features a "We-Go Swing" for wheelchair users, the first of its kind in CPS.

It also features a walk-in seating see-saw, officials said.

Juli Ordower Landscape Architecture Wins Two First Place Design Awards
In conjunction with the contractor, On the Ledge Landscaping, Juli Ordower Landscape Architecture received two first place design awards from the international design contest sponsored by I-Plants and Urban Horticulture Magazines. The Bucktown Residence project won first place in the Exterior Planting $20,000-$30,000 category (p. 40-41) and the River North Office project won first place in the Freestanding Containers $20,000-$30,000 category (p. 46-47).

Maggie Daley Park in Chicago Completed with the Help of Juli Ordower

As Maggie Daley Park in Chicago nears completion, Juli Ordower is busy coordinating the installation of more than 4,000 shrubs, 43,000 perennials and 283,000 square feet of sod in a park that is built on top of an underground parking garage.

Akiba Schechter Preschool Playground Breaks Ground!

As noted in the JUF News, November 2012 Edition, the preschool playground at Akiba Schechter Jewish Day School in Hyde Park is complete!.

 

"Akiba-Schechter Jewish Day School hosted more than 220 guests at the Sept. 9 unveiling of "Mike's Place," the Preschool's new, state-of-the-art Playground.  Named for the late alumnus Michael Evans, the playground provides an experience in nature for Akiba's youngest students, while extending the classroom outdoors.  The playground is designed by Landscape Architect Juli Ordower."
